Kraken, the hard rock/heavy metal band from the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania has been writing, recording, and playing their own style of music for more than 20 years. With their first album, "Release the Angels," they set precedents for their future that holds true for today.

Kraken has shared the stage with national touring bands such as Warrant, WASP, Molley Hatchett, Nazareth, and the list goes on. As well as having played numerous headlining venues from Pocono Raceways on "Bike Weekend" for nearly 8000 people to the smallest of dives for 5 people...3 of which where in an alcoholic coma...but they always give it their all. They pride themselves on the ability to go to a gig where no one knows them and by the end of the night they have them screaming for more!

 

With very few line up changes, Kraken's best asset is that they are, most of all...friends. Tony Morales, the voice of Kraken, has been there since it's "birth." On drums we have Tommy McLoughlin, who has put in 20+ years also. Kraken's bassist, Tom Newhart,for his second stint with the band. And on guitar we have, Jim Mattes, who first appeared on the latest album, "I Love This Place," and his innovative writing and dedication has been a key reason that Kraken continues creating. New to Kraken is, Kevin Wisner. Kevin, a guitar veteran of 30+ years lends his talent as second lead guitar.

Three albums, a couple of EP's, a song used on a major movie soundtrack (In Company of Darkness) produced by Don Johnson, a multitude of concerts under their belt, and even appearing in the film "Lehigh Valley Rocks" alongside other great Valley bands from the 80's, it doesn't seem that Kraken is slowing down. Having newer, harder edged material, written for the next album, Kraken is far from ready to roll over. With fresh management and a new studio, as the saying goes..."we're just getting started!"
